Saxifrages are the ultimate stage of remanence and resurgence. They mark the meeting ground between urban and plant matter. These stone-breaking and concrete-breaking plants are the scourge of Brutalist architecture, whether military or otherwise. They break it up with their cracking roots, reminding us that small plants, alone or united, have the strength of oaks.
